Privacy and cookie policy
Born of heritage, raised for a lifetime
This English version is a courtesy translation. The only binding text is the Spanish version of this policy, published at casasiam.cl/politica-de-privacidad/; if the two versions differ, the Spanish text prevails. This translation is not a substitute for legal advice.
This policy explains what personal data casasiam.cl collects, what it uses it for, who it shares it with, how long it keeps it and what you can do about it. It is written in accordance with Chilean Law 19.628 on the protection of private life, as amended by Law 21.719, which comes into force on 1 December 2026 and which this policy already takes into account.
1. Who processes your data
The data collected by this site is processed by Casa Siam, a home-based breeder of Siamese cats with its business address at Los Militares 5620, Las Condes, Santiago, Chile, through its official channels.
Use of the site is also governed by the terms and conditions. Questions are answered on WhatsApp, as indicated on our Contact page.
For any matter related to your data, including exercising your rights, the channel is belen@casasiam.cl.
2. What data we collect
When you browse. The server logs your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and where you came from. This is the normal technical log of any website, and it is used to keep the site running and to detect abuse.
When you write to us on WhatsApp. Your number, your profile name and the content of the conversation, which is stored on Meta’s service. The site’s buttons only open WhatsApp with a pre-written greeting; the site does not store what you write to us. That conversation is where questions are answered and in-person visits and pickups are arranged.
When you accept cookies. As explained in section 9.
If you are a family who has made a reservation. The data in the Reservation and Handover Protocol is collected outside this site and is governed by the Protocol itself. This policy covers the site.
3. About allergies and other health data
Before a visit we may ask whether anyone in your household is allergic to cats. We ask for a specific reason: if an allergy is declared, we will tell you frankly that it is best to consult the health professional who treats it before any payment, and that an in-person visit is a way to get to know each other, not to predict tolerance.
An answer about allergies is sensitive health data. Therefore: we only ask after requesting your express authorization for that use; answering is voluntary and the conversation continues the same if you prefer not to answer; we use it only for that recommendation and nothing else; we do not share it with anyone outside Casa Siam; and we delete it together with the rest of the conversation within the periods in section 7. You can withdraw that authorization at any time by writing to us.
4. What we use your data for, and on what legal basis
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Answering questions and keeping up the conversation | WhatsApp number and conversation | Pre-contractual steps at the data subject’s request |
| Recommending an in-person visit because of a declared allergy | Health data | Express consent |
| Arranging the visit and pickup | WhatsApp number and conversation | Performance of the contract or pre-contractual steps |
| Keeping the site online, secure and working | Technical log | Casa Siam’s legitimate interest |
| Measuring the effectiveness of advertising | Advertising cookies | Consent |
| Knowing how many people visit the site and which pages they view | Statistics cookies | Consent |
| Meeting the breeder’s legal and tax obligations | Data of contracting families | Legal obligation |
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell data or transfer it to third parties for their own advertising. We do work with providers who process it on our behalf and under our instructions: Hostinger, which hosts the site; Google, for Casa Siam’s email, calendar, the map on the Contact page, ad measurement and the site’s visit statistics (Google Analytics); Meta, for WhatsApp; and Adobe, which delivers the typeface used for headings: to display it, your browser downloads it from Adobe’s servers, which thereby receive your IP address, without setting cookies. Each processes data under its own terms, published on its website.
Data may also be disclosed to a court, an administrative authority or the attending veterinarian when a law or a ruling so requires.
6. Transfers of data outside Chile
Google, Meta, Hostinger and Adobe operate servers outside Chile, so your data is stored and processed abroad, mainly in the United States and the European Union. All four offer contractual clauses and recognized security standards, which is the safeguard the law requires for such transfers. You can ask us for details of that safeguard by writing to us.
7. How long we keep it
A question that does not lead to a reservation is kept for twelve months from the last contact and then deleted. Conversations to arrange a visit are kept for twelve months from the date of the visit.
The data of families who do make a reservation is kept for as long as the relationship lasts and for six years afterward, the period during which the commercial, tax and kitten-registration obligations that the law imposes on a breeder remain in effect.
Published testimonials are kept until the family asks for them to be removed. Cookies last as long as indicated in the table in section 9.
8. Security
The site runs over HTTPS, access to its administration is restricted to Casa Siam and password-protected, and emails and documents containing family data are kept in a restricted-access folder. No measure is infallible; if a breach affecting your data were to occur, we would let you know and report it to the Personal Data Protection Agency (Agencia de Protección de Datos Personales) within the applicable time frame.
9. Cookies
A cookie is a small file that the site stores on your device to recognize it on later visits. casasiam.cl uses the following:
| Category | What it does | Set by | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Remember what you chose in the cookie panel, so that we do not ask you again. | Casa Siam | 12 months |
| Google: ads, statistics and map | Measure whether a visit came from a Casa Siam ad and whether it ended in a question, count how many people visit the site and which pages they view (Google Analytics), and allow the Google map on the Contact page to be shown. Google may link them to other visits. | From 90 days to 13 months |
Necessary cookies are always set, because without them the site would not remember your decision. Google cookies are only set if you accept them in the panel that appears the first time you visit, where you can accept them all, reject them all with a button identical to the accept button, or choose under “Preferences”. Before you decide, nothing from Google is loaded: on the Contact page, the map is replaced by a notice.
You can change your mind at any time from the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer, and delete any cookies you already have from your browser settings.
10. Your rights
The law grants you six rights over your personal data, and all of them are exercised the same way: by writing to belen@casasiam.cl and stating the WhatsApp number or email address you used to contact us. If it cannot be verified, we will ask you for something that proves your identity.
Access, to know what data of yours we hold, where it came from and what we use it for. Rectification, to correct data that is wrong or incomplete. Erasure, so that we delete it when it is no longer needed or when you withdraw your consent. Objection, so that we stop processing it in specific cases. Portability, to receive it in a format you can take with you. And blocking, to suspend its use while a dispute about it is resolved.
We reply within thirty calendar days, extendable once by another thirty when the request is complex, in which case we will let you know beforehand. Exercising these rights is free of charge.
If you are not satisfied with our reply, or if we do not reply, you can file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Agency (Agencia de Protección de Datos Personales).
11. Minors
This site is not directed at children under fourteen, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we find that a minor has written to us without the authorization of their parent or guardian, we delete that data.
12. Changes to this policy
When the site, our providers or the law change, we will update this policy and publish the new version with its date on the Spanish page, and this translation will be updated to match. If a change substantially affects how we process your data, we will let you know through the contact details we have for you before applying it.
